NN North Sea Jazz Poster

A visual poster concept developed for the annual poster competition at NN North Sea Jazz Festival, as part of an elective at the Willem de Kooning Academy.

This work draws inspiration from the aesthetic language of iconic mid-century jazz album covers — particularly the bold typographic rhythms and minimal yet evocative compositions of albums like The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson and Indestructible by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.

The poster aims to capture the soul of jazz while situating it in modern usage of graphic design. In doing so, the design acts as a bridge between jazz’s rich visual heritage and the evolving identity of today’s music festivals.
